Hello all,

I have been acting now for 3 1/2 years and have learned a great deal from working with several industry professionals and books which I have read.

My approach to my craft and business has changed dramatically. I understand that this is a business and I am the CEO of my own company and must always showcase myself in the best possible light. I shake as many hands as possible, always remain professional and positive, be open to change and most importantly, BE MYSELF! I submit for every project I can but focus my time, energy and money on areas that are geared towards my type. And it's extremely important to know your type/product. Meaning if a CD, Agent or Manager ask you, "Who's getting your work?" What they are trying to find out is if you were auditioning for roles in the BIG leagues, which Actors are getting the roles that you'd be perfect for based on your type. This is part of knowing your business.

An Actor also needs to know which Medium should they be focusing on based on their type. Where so you see yourself in this business. EX: Soaps, Episodic, Film, Theatre, etc. But remember, early in your career you will usually get hired for the roles that YOU ALREADY ARE PERFECT FOR the moment you walk in that door. Once you gain clout in the BIG leagues, you will then be given chances to stretch yourself as an Actor. They will be able to trust you and your work. So don't worry about typcast. Take whatever work is thrown your way. Yes, I get hired for alot of Cop roles, but my emotional range can be from A-Z which is what you want.

For the last 2 months I have been meeting with CD's, Agents & Managers to show them my work, let them see my personality and most importantly, taking the first step in building a relationship with them. I know alot of you don't agree with paying to meet these industry professionals but unfortunately, It's what you have to do to get seen. I am on about 15 websites some of which I submit myself for projects and others are merely to market myself, network and build contacts. I am pro-active with my career. I do something positive every day towards it. I don't believe in waiting for my BIG break, I believe in creating it! I am also about 30 pages into my full-length screenplay which is based on a true story. It's intriguing subject matter will provoke thought worldwide. I also just finished the treatement for it and will now register it with WGA EAST.

Mind you, In addition to being an Actor, I am a full-time NYC Firefighter, father, husband and have a mother that suffers with Multiple Sclerosis. So I don't want to hear excuses or that you do not have time. If I can accomplish all the work I have obtained in just 3 1/2 years without having representation and having a full plate in my personal life, then I'm sure most of you can do the same or even better. YOU ARE BOUND BY NOTHING!! You create your future. How bad do you want this? Let rejection fuel you to work harder and smarter. Keep knocking on that door and you will get where you want to go. Trust me.

This is the first of many blogs I will post here thanks to a good friend, Christopher who set this account up here for me to share as much as I can. And if some of you don't like certain things I say, that's okay, throw it out but keep the good stuff in your tool box (brain). Knowledge is power.

Regards,

Christopher Stadulis
